This project involved using a staple crochet pattern, the granny square, to create something with a much more complex shape, a maxi skirt. The length and give of the yarn changes when worn upright, so this skirt had to be remade several times to fit the changing dimension from waist to hips to thighs. Additionally, keeping the squares secure was an issue, as the length of the skirt significantly added to the weight being put on the stitches toward the top.
